There are several ways to win at poker. The best hands at any given time are called “nuts,” and they include a trip seven, an 8-9 straight, and a seven on the river. A player can also hit all the required cards on the turn and river to complete a straight. However, these hands are not always the best hands to win. When a player makes a backdoor flush, the best hand may be the one that is not dealt a seven on the river.

When playing poker, there are as many players as there are hands. In a typical game, six to eight players are present. All the players place bets into the pot, which is called the pot. The player with the highest poker hand wins the pot by making a bet that no other player calls.
